Amethyst

Amethyst is the violet coloured form of quartz. It is found on every continent. Its name comes from the Greek, meaning 'not drunken', and it was worn in ancient times as an amulet against drunkenness. It was believed to bring luck, ensure fidelity, and to protection against from negative energies in one's environment.

It is the February birthstone.

Aquamarine

Aquamarine is a type of beryl. Its name comes from the Latin (water of the sea) because of its seawater colour. It has been used as a good luck talisman by sailors in the ancient times. It is found on every continent, and its colour ranges from pale green to deep blue.. It is believed to enhance one's communication skills. It is said to be a cooling and calming stone, good for soothing sunburns, fevers and tempers.

It is the March birthstone.

Citrine

Citrine is a yellow to gold-brown variety of quartz. Its name is derived from its lemon yellow colour. Citrine is often created by the natural or artificial heating of Amethyst, which changes from purple to gold at 878 degrees F. It is found in the USA, Brazil, Uruguay and Russia. It is believed that Citrine enhances creativity, mental clarity, will power and sensuality. It is said to enhance alertness, to attract wealth and prosperity, and to connect the mind to the higher spiritual realms.

Citrine is a secondary stone for the month of November as a replacement for the more expensive Topaz.

Garnet

The history of Garnet dates back to the Bronze Age (more than 5,000 years ago), when it was a very popular gemstone. According to Christian and Jewish mythologies, during the Great Flood a radiant red Garnet guided the way for Noah, ultimately leading his ark to salvation. Garnets are available in rich red, red-brown, black, green, orange, purple, yellow colours. The Garnet is known as a jewel of life, love, purity & vitality. .

It is the birthstone for the month of January.

Lapis lazuli

Lapis lazuli is an opaque to translucent blue, violet-blue, or greenish-blue semi precious gemstone composed of lazurite and several other minerals. The main deposits are found in Afghanistan and Chile. From ancient Egypt to the present, it has been prized as a stone of royalty, decorating the pillars of castles & the throats of queens. Being a spiritual stone, it allows spiritual energy to be absorbed in the aura. Lapis can assist in the opening of the third eye and the attainment of wisdom. It is associated with the 'royal' virtues of courage, insight, strength, clarity and compassion, and with their attainment.

Peridot

Peridot also known as olivine or chrysolite, is a magnesium iron silicate. It can be found in Arizona, Hawaii, in the Red Sea, in Australia and Pakistan. This stone is believed to be a powerful generator of the frequency of Increase i.e. increase of wealth, increase of health, and increase of joy and emotional well being. It is said to bring the will and emotions into alignment, and to decrease fear.

Rainbow Moonstone

Rainbow Moonstone is a richly colored feldspar gemstone, which exhibits iridescent flashes of blue, red, gold, green and white. It has natural white inclusions, which add intricacy and depth to its appearance. This stone is believed to bring flashes of insight, increase intuition, and enhance one's creativity, compassion, endurance and inner confidence. It is said to enhance the power of the feminine, and to awaken the rainbow body of Light.

Moonstone is the stone for the month of June.

Tourmaline

As it is found in all spectrums of colour, tourmaline is often described as the "chameleon gemstone". It is not surprising to find a fine tourmaline that mirrors the exact semblance of other gemstones, such as emerald, ruby and sapphire. Some tourmaline crystals may even appear as crystallized rainbows with several bands of colour, ranging from the most brilliant red to the deepest blue. Many refer to tourmaline as the "muses' stone", for they believe that its imaginative colours contain inspirational powers.

Turquoise

Turquoise is a blue to blue-green mineral of aluminium and copper, mainly, prized as a gemstone in its polished blue form. It derives its name from turc (Turkish in French) as it was transported to Europe through Turkey. It is one of the oldest known gem materials. Rich deposits of turquoise are found in the regions of Iran, south-western United States, Africa, Australia, Tibet, China, Siberia and Europe. Ancient manuscripts from Persia, India, Afghanistan, and Arabia report that the health of a person wearing turquoise can be assessed by variations in the colour of the stone and was also thought to promote prosperity. It is believed that the gemstone guards against diseases and assists in tissue regeneration, subtle body alignment and strengthening. It also brings good fortune and attracts healing spirits.

Zircon

The name "zircon" is believed to have derived from the Arabic words, "zar", meaning gold, and "gun", meaning colour. For many centuries, the brilliance of zircon has captured the hearts of those who gazed upon this magnificent gemstone. Zircon's popularity began to grow in the sixth century when Italian artisans featured the stone in jewellery designs. During the Middle Ages, zircon was believed to contain curative powers, protecting the wearer from diseases and banishing insomnia.
